Daniel, a 14-year-old boy, tragically sustained fatal injuries to his neck and chest during an attack in Laing Close, Hainault, just before 7am on April 30.

A touching vigil was held on Sunday, May 5, where mourners gathered at Hainault Underground station car park, a short distance from the scene of the incident. Regrettably, Daniel’s family did not attend the vigil.

Harris, a 17-year-old acquaintance of Daniel who preferred not to disclose his last name, spoke to the crowd at the vigil, describing Daniel as a well-behaved individual devoted to his studies and church activities. He shared that Daniel’s family appreciated the supportive gestures, fundraisers, and community efforts made in their honor.

Following the tragic event, a man named Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, a dual Spanish-Brazilian national residing in Newham, was charged with murdering Daniel and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

In a statement released by the Metropolitan Police, Daniel’s family expressed their devastation over the loss of their beloved son and requested privacy during this difficult time. They extended their sympathy to the other victims involved in the incident and thanked the local community for their unwavering support.

Acknowledging Daniel’s passion for football and his favorite team, Arsenal paid tribute to him before their Premier League match against Bournemouth, with the Emirates Stadium observing a moment of applause in the 14th minute in his honor.

The community continues to mourn the loss of Daniel, a young soul taken too soon.
