If you are unable to participate in the London Marathon due to reasons such as injury, illness, or feeling unprepared, you have the option to defer your entry. Deferment can be easily done through a quick process, allowing you to either cancel your entry or defer it to the following year.

To defer your spot from the London Marathon 2024, simply notify the organizers through your participant dashboard, which should have been emailed to you in February. After withdrawal, eligible participants will be given the opportunity to defer their entry to the next year.

Please visit the TCS London Marathon website to learn more about how to defer your spot.

It is essential to note that the deadline for withdrawal is 23.59 on Saturday, April 20, the day before the marathon. The organizers will email those who choose to defer with all necessary information in due course.

Certain eligibility criteria apply for deferring from the London Marathon this year. For instance, if you are pregnant or postpartum, you can defer your place for the years 2025, 2026, or 2027. You may also defer to 2025 if you secured your place through the 2024 ballot or have a guaranteed spot from a running club or stakeholder. Please note that entry fees for 2025 will still apply, and more details will follow.

It’s important to mention that places provided by charities cannot be deferred as they belong to the charity. In such cases, you should reach out to the charity directly for further assistance.
