PC Alex Law, 43, has admitted to committing two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 10 in 1996. Law, who was 15 at the time, assaulted the young girl while she was playing in the woods near Hexham in Northumberland. His disturbing past came to light only in December 2022 when the victim bravely came forward.
After confessing to his crimes, Law, residing in Cedar Drive, Dartford, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison on April 22. Surprisingly, just three days later, Law was granted anonymity at a Met Police misconduct hearing. However, The Journal paper in Newcastle uncovered his identity and shared his picture, shedding light on his actions, thanks to their interview with the victim.
The victim, speaking to The Journal, revealed that she decided to come forward upon seeing a photo of Law in his Met Police uniform. Law was subsequently dismissed from the force without notice on April 25. Met Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox expressed gratitude to Northumbria Police for their investigation and emphasized the importance of swiftly removing individuals unfit to serve in law enforcement from the organization.
