Upon perusing my TikTok feed, I stumbled upon a recipe shared by a London chef detailing how to create the ultimate scrambled eggs. Intrigued by the idea of enhancing such a basic dish, I decided to investigate further and put the recipe from Will at Fallow Restaurant to the test.
Will, from TikTok, guided viewers through the recipe, starting with cracking “free-range British eggs” into a bowl and swiftly whisking them until achieving a “nice and textural” consistency. He then proceeded to melt a generous portion of butter in a frying pan, emphasizing the importance of using a sufficient amount. After the butter turned golden, he poured in the whisked eggs and proceeded to mix them. Adding a dollop of creme fraiche, salt, and pepper, the scrambled eggs began to take shape.
To recreate the recipe, I sourced free-range eggs from The Happy Egg Co., Asda’s own-brand creme fraiche, and Extra Special West Country Spreadable Butter. Following Will’s instructions, I cracked four eggs into a bowl, whisked them thoroughly, and melted a good amount of butter in a pan. Once the butter began to brown, I added the eggs and gently stirred them. As the eggs cooked, I incorporated the creme fraiche, and within a few minutes, the scrambled eggs were ready to be enjoyed.
Noteworthy was the creamier texture and enhanced taste brought by the creme fraiche, resulting in fluffier and more satisfying scrambled eggs compared to the standard dish. While this recipe may not be the healthiest due to the butter and creme fraiche, it certainly makes for a delightful weekend treat. In my opinion, this method of preparing scrambled eggs could be deemed as close to perfection, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their breakfast experience.
Fallow Restaurant’s chefs frequently share recipes on their TikTok page, covering a variety of dishes like scotched egg and turkey curry.
