London Mayor Sadiq Khan has exciting plans to expand the Superloop services in London, doubling the current number from 10 to 20. This new initiative, known as Superloop 2, was revealed in the lead-up to Khan’s recent re-election as Mayor. While the exact routes are still being determined, the proposal includes the introduction of three new services in the north London area.
In an interview with The Standard, Mayor Khan expressed his pride in the success of the Superloop project, highlighting its impact on connecting Londoners to important locations in outer London and encouraging more people to utilize public transportation. Describing it as a significant improvement in travel convenience, Mayor Khan emphasized that the proposed routes will undergo consultations with Londoners to ensure they effectively serve key destinations such as town centers, transport hubs, and essential public services like hospitals.
Current Superloop routes in north London encompass SL9 (Heathrow Airport to Harrow), SL10 (Harrow to North Finchley), and SL1 (North Finchley to Walthamstow Central). The expansion will introduce three new routes for north London, including Harrow to Barnet via Edgware, Barnet to Stratford via Enfield, Chingford, and Walthamstow, and Ealing Broadway to Hendon via Hanger Lane and Brent Cross.
