A man, aged 36, is currently hospitalized following his arrest on suspicion of the murder of a 14-year-old boy. The arrested individual sustained injuries when his van collided with a house in Thurlow Gardens, prompting police to respond to the scene just before 7am on April 30th. In addition to the suspect, four others, including two police officers who were stabbed, were also wounded.

Road closures are in place in Hainault as the investigation into the sword attack continues. Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley reported to LBC on May 1st that a female officer underwent several hours of surgery on Tuesday due to severe arm injuries, with her hand nearly being lost in the assault. Meanwhile, a male colleague also suffered significant injuries to his hand.

Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell stated that the incident was not believed to be a targeted or terror-related attack. A man wielding a sword was subdued and arrested at the scene, but due to his injuries, he has not yet been interviewed by authorities. Dramatic footage captured officers tasering and apprehending the suspect on a residential driveway as they confiscated the weapon.

The Buckingham Palace spokesperson conveyed that the King’s thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted by the tragic stabbings, especially with the family of the young victim who lost his life in the incident.
