Competitors preparing for the 26-mile run on Sunday, April 21, are dedicated to maintaining peak fitness levels through rigorous diet and exercise routines akin to Olympians. In addition to physical readiness, being organized and well-prepared for the event is key. This includes ensuring you have all essential information such as your bib number, start line location, route details, directions, and start times.

Fortunately, we have gathered all the necessary information for you, so you don’t have to search for it yourself. Understanding the start waves and times for the London Marathon is crucial for participants. The event guide for the 2024 TCS London Marathon is now available and contains essential details to enhance your marathon experience.

Ahead of heading to the start waves area at the marathon, participants must access the Assembly Area, exclusive to those participating in the event. Displaying your bib number clearly on your chest before arriving is a requirement. Start waves will be held from 9:30 am to 11:30 am with intervals to ensure a clear course for runners, allocated based on predicted finish times provided to organizers beforehand.

While it is not possible to join an earlier start wave, participants can opt for a later wave on the event day without needing to notify staff in advance.
