Ilyas Habibi, a 17-year-old from Sutton, tragically lost his life due to a stabbing in 2023. Below is a detailed timeline of the events surrounding his death:

On Tuesday, December 5th, Ilyas was discovered injured on Sutton High Street just before 7:10 pm. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. Police investigations revealed that Ilyas had arrived at Sutton High Street by train and was involved in an altercation with a suspect who fled the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Nolan leading the investigation urged anyone with information on the incident to come forward. Despite efforts, it remains unclear if the suspect sustained any injuries during the altercation.

On Friday, December 8th, touching tributes were left at the scene, including flowers and lit candles in memory of Ilyas. Additionally, his brother shared heartfelt sentiments about his beloved sibling’s personality and interests, highlighting his passion for football and kind-hearted nature.

By Monday, December 11th, a suspect linked to the case was identified, having departed the country from London Gatwick Airport a few days earlier. Authorities are cooperating with international law enforcement to apprehend the suspect. In connection to the case, a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender but has since been released on bail.

A post-mortem examination determined that Ilyas’ untimely death was caused by a stab wound to the neck. As investigations continue, no further updates have been provided by Newsquest London regarding this case.
